An open letter to Overseer CGI,Mulakuzha Chenganoor
We are surprised to see your news
letter dated 06.08.2014 addressed to the churches. Some of the directions in
the news letter expose your double standard on many issues. We would like to
pin point some of them.
1. You have
instructed that the ministers should be called as ‘pastors’ and not by
‘reverends’. We don’t know when you got this new revelation. On the postal
cover received from CGI, sender’s address is neatly printed as Rev. P.J James,
State Overseer. Refer to the pastors address book. You can see many pastors migrated
to ‘reverends’ including you. We are having the copy of the Malayala Manorama
daily dated 07.09.2014 announcing to the public that one great Rev. P J James bas
been appointed as the overseer of CGI. We are also aware that the American Masters
have promoted all the Overseers as Bishops. We were very proud in that
promotion policy. We have the opportunity to challenge the Episcopal Christians
by boasting that we too have bishops.
You may also read the souvenir published last year. The American bosses were very proud to
introduce many such Bishops to us. For details you may also log on to CGI
Action Council blog.
2. You are
lamenting about the increasing drop outs from the CGI due to trivial reasons.
We understand your crocodile tears. Without consulting anybody you have
reinstated a pastor who was suspended by the previous management. You also lied
to the judicial authorities affirming that the decision to take back the
expelled pastor was as per the consensus arrived in the council meeting held on
19.04.14 & 22.04.2014. Council members vehemently denied that no such
meeting was held on the above dates. As a result what happened to Manarkad Church?
So many families of CGI Manarkad simply migrated to other churches. What
happened in Pattom Church? You promoted the pastor who swindled money and was
accused in a criminal case. How dare you preach that we believers should take
care of other members likely to go out of CGI? Let us know what moral right you
have in this matter.
3. It seems that
you are very much concerned about the high budget conventions. What about the
‘Convention Mamankam’ you are conducting every year. You have collected huge
amount from the believers but conveniently omitted to show it in the audited
balance sheet submitted to Income Tax Department. Then you preach that we
believers should be honest. Please refer to the previous special audit report
where we find the ‘ways and means’ resorted by the saints to loot the CGI
Society. But you conferred a clean chit to the thieves in an interview with
Believers Journal. You have also forgotten to publish the accounts of
construction activities undertaken by you, though we have demanded it on
several times.
4. We find that
of late you are receiving new revelations. We believers are accountable to the
local pastors by recording the details of Bible reading in the ‘Bible reading
Register’. We have to maintain a prayer book/diary and note down the hours
spent on prayer. Wonderful idea. We are also directed to support the churches
financially. CGI wants our help to expand your empire but conveniently forget
that the CGI management stealthily removed the believers from the governing
body. When it comes to the matter of
administration we believers are ‘untouchables’.
5. You preach
unity in the church domain. What about Mulakuzha and Pakkil divisions.
Discrimination against caste is prohibited in our constitution. But the saints
of CGI divided the believers and tied them at different stalls. Then you preach
‘we are one in Christ’. CGI management thinks that they can fool God and the
public. This will not last for long. “For the time has come for judgement to
begin at the house of God”. We sincerely advise you to remove the mask of
hypocrisy and come out as a genuine servant of God.

Thou shall not wear ornaments?
The old generation Pentecostal/Brethren Churches in Kerala and other
parts of the country prohibits a believer in wearing ornaments and teaches that
your destiny will end up in hell if you wear ornaments. An overseer of Church
of God [full gospel] in India even ventured to write a book against the
practice of wearing ornaments by believers. But it is a known fact that he
accumulated wealth disproportionate to his known source of income. However the
new generation Pentecostal churches do not think that it is a sin. It is not
their agenda to preach against wearing ornaments. As a result they attract huge
crowd for their meetings. Wear or not to
wear ornaments baffle at least some of the sincere believers. Hence this
article tries to find the Biblical truth on the heart burning question of many
innocent believers. You can decide whether to wear [gold] ornaments or
not. In 1 Cor 13:11 we read that ‘but
when I became a man, I put away childish things’. Some of the churches behave
like Pharisees. ‘for they bind heavy burdens, hard to bear, and lay them on
men’s shoulders; but they themselves will not move them with one of their
fingers’. Mat 23:4

Gen 35:4

So they gave Jacob al the

Earrings were associated with
foreign gods and that is why Jacob dealt with it in an unusual way.

Silver and gold I do not have

Peter was a chosen Apostle and he could do great

Jam 5:3

1Tim 2:9
|
That the women adorn themselves in modest apparel
with propriety and moderation not with braided hair or gold or pearls or
costly clothing
|
Paul also talks about braided hair and costly
clothing. How many of us visit beauty parlor and wear costly clothing. What
about our marriage functions?
|

|
1 Pet 3:3
|
Do not let your adornment be merely
outward arranging the hair, wearing gold or putting the fine apparel………precious
in the sight of God
|
Peter also talks about the same
thing
|
When the Brethren/Pentecostal
movements came to India especially to Kerala the preachers craved for equality
among believers. So many people from lower segment of the society were
attracted to the new movement and due to their ignorance, accepted the
anti-ornament theology. Now the climate has changed, most of them accumulated
wealth and find it very difficult to hide it from the public. On an ultimate
analysis of the above verses it is clear that there is nothing wrong in wearing
ornaments. In fact God is concerned with
our material and spiritual well being. God
is looking to our heart and attitude towards accumulation of wealth.
