Years back the term ‘Bishop’ was
irritating to us, so as the term ‘Reverend’. The two qualifications were
attributed to Episcopal clergies. The clergies were termed as ‘agents of Satan’.
But now the situation has changed. There is noting wrong in using the above
terms to qualify Pentecostal pastors so as to enhance their social dignity. Now
the Pastors are, Reverends and the Overseers are Bishops. Slowly they will
adopt suitable uniform for public recognition like priests. Some of them simply
added ‘Doctor’ with their name. It is a known fact that these ‘doctors’ are not
even graduated from any recognized University. Are we now sacrificing all the
values for which we fought with ‘namadheya kootams’? You can see the copy of a letter
received from American COG bosses to our CGI overseer [sorry Bishop] of Mulakuzha diocese. What will be the reaction
of Jesus of Nazareth?
Is
it a sin to keep ‘mustache’ by Pentecostal pastors in Kerala? Indeed it is a
sin here. That is why Pentecostal pastors of old generation denominations are
clean shaven and with out ‘mustache’. You may land up in hell for grooming ‘mustache’
[Meesa Madhavans] if you are a pastor in Kerala. They teach that hell fire is
reserved for any one who dares to wear [gold] ornaments. CGI Bishop vehemently criticizes
wearing of ornaments by believers. But it is not for the CGI bishops of Andhra
Pradesh and Tamil Nadu. They are from out of coverage area. Recently CGI Mulakuzha
accepted greetings from the two Bishops.
